You Hold This to Your Lips and Think of Me
one hundred stories I won’t have time to write
Reduction fired porcelain and stoneware, ash (London, Evia, Rushmere), beech wood

100 cups, 100 different forms, 100 different combinations of clay and ash glaze, 100 beginnings. You Hold This to Your Lips and Think of Me is an observation of intimacy in this everyday object and the almost infinite possibility of their lives.
Between these cups are human patterns of process, visible in each through the traces of my hand. Their extraordinary range of colour, from turquoise to deep red is achieved not through oxides mined and extracted at unimaginable human and environmental cost, but through a material which would seem to be at the end of all things, ash.
